About the Referee Clinic
The Referee Clinic will provide you with a broad understanding of the role, responsibilities, and duties of a referee, as well as refine your sense of right-of-way, timing, and application of the penalties.
Attending an official RC-sanctioned clinic is a prerequisite for becoming a certified USA Fencing referee, along with successful completion of a written exam. Once a passing score (90%) has been achieved on the written exam (both the general section and one or more weapon-specific sections) a referee receives a "P" rating. Once you have taken the seminar and passed the written exam, you can be evaluated for a numeric rating (1-10) at a tournament.
Lunch is not provided, however pizza will be ordered at a nominal cost.
Seminar fee $75.00 in advance, $85.00 at the door.
In order to be given a practical exam, you must have already passed the official exams (general exam plus one or more weapon-specific exams). Visit http://www.refereescommission.org and click "Become a Ref" for details. Important links to the USFA rulebook and RC Study Guide are found there too.
