Experience the Sport of Fencing
Our summer camp program accepts children ages 6 to 18 with little to no previous fencing experience. These camps are an excellent opportunity for children who have always wanted to try this exciting sport.

Campers participate in a variety of cross-training activities that are skill based for fencing. They’ll learn the fundamentals of tactics and techniques, and participate in several mini-tournaments during the week.

All equipment necessary to fence will be supplied by the camp.

Camp Dates
All camps are held Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
  • July 17-21, led by Adrien Dessens
  • July 24-28, led by Adrien Dessens

Camp Registration
Registration for each session is $375. A $100 deposit must be made with the return of the registration form for the registration to be complete. Please make checks out to BCFA. Registration fees include all equipment needed to participate.

What to Expect
  • Campers should wear athletic attire each day for camp: sneakers, knee socks, a t-shirt, and shorts. Boots, deck shoes, slides, and flip flops are not appropriate. We recommend bringing a spare change of clothes to change into at the end of each day.
  • Bring a lunch, snacks, and lots of water. We recommend a large water bottle. Sodas and other carbonated beverages are discouraged.

The Sport
Strategy, athleticism, agility, and speed are all important in the development of our fencers at Bayou City Fencing Academy. As a classic sport with history, drama, and style, it excites the imagination and builds confidence in physical and mental skills for participants of all ages. At Bayou City Fencing Academy (BCFA), camps and classes for participants ages 6 to 18 are structured to provide curriculum appropriate to both recreational and competitive fencers. We teach saber and foil in individual lessons, group classes, and camps, and host local, state, and national tournaments at our 23,000-square-foot, purpose-built facility.

The Academy
Founded in 1994, BCFA has been driven by two important goals: promoting the sport of fencing and offering a unique experience for competitive as well as recreational fencers, both at our facility and in schools. BCFA is one of the oldest and largest fencing schools serving Harris County and surrounding areas.

Our Fencers
Our fencers have won an incredible number of medals, including gold at local, state, and national competitions. We have qualified and fielded several fencers to the U.S. National Championships, the Junior Olympics, and the U.S. Fencing world teams. Many of our fencers have been awarded scholarships to some of the most prestigious universities -- not only for their academic standing, but also for their outstanding fencing records.

Our Coaches
All of our coaches have been exceptional fencers and have had extensive training in teaching fencing to students of all ages and levels. They bring to their classes the best teaching techniques in the sport. Their experience ranges from being an Olympian to coaching at the college level. Together, our coaches have more than 90 years of coaching and fencing experience.
  • Adrien Dessens was a Canadian Team Member and Team Captain. He also was a Canadian Provincial Champion; a Canadian National Champion; a two-time Team Silver National Champion; and has won multiple international competitions.
