Join Kamali Thompson and several elite Division I athletes for an intensive high school fencing clinic focusing on footwork and fencing drills as well as a discussion preparing the students for fencing in college.
Age: 9th-12th grade
Fee: $150
Join Kamali Thompson and several elite Division I athletes for an intensive high school fencing clinic at Medeo Fencing Club. The camp is all 3 weapons and will consist of conditioning, footwork, and drills specific to each weapon. The preparation for college segment will instruct the fencers how to use fencing to boost their resumes and personal essays, how to approach college coaches, and expectations as a student athlete.
Kamali is a M.D/M.B.A student at Rutgers Robert Wood Johnson Medical School in New Jersey. She began fencing her freshman year at Teaneck High School and became a member of the Peter Westbrook Foundation (New York, NY) in 2006. She graduated with honors from Temple University with a B.S in biology and as an All-American and 4x NCAA qualifier. During the 2015-2016 Olympic qualifying year, she was a two-time national silver medalist and finished the season in 6th place. She is the 2016 Division I Women’s Saber National Champion and finished 2nd at the 2015 Division I National Championships.
Camp Schedule:
10 – 11 Warm up and conditioning
11 - 12 Footwork
12 – 1230 Lunch
12 30 – 4 Separate into groups for drills, free fencing, college discussion
330 – 4 Parent Q&A about college fencing
Fencers must have minimum 1 year of fencing experience. Fencers must be able to provide their own fencing equipment.
Age: 9th-12th grade
Fee: $150 payable via credit card, check, or cash upon arrival
If more than one fencer in the family, $150 for the first fencer and $75 for each additional fencer
