The clinic will be held Sunday, September 16, starting at 9:30am and is expected to continue until approximately 5:30pm. There will be a working lunch during the clinic. Pizza will be provided, but please feel free to bring your own food if you'd prefer.

Cost of the Clinic
The cost of the clinic is $75/person payable to Bradley Baker. Checks or cash must be paid at the door.
Members of the Philadelphia Division who attend and complete the Referee Development Clinic are eligible for full reimbursement upon passing the written test and obtaining a numerical rating (10 or better; not a P) within 1 year of the seminar.
About the Referee Development Clinic
The Referee Development Clinic will provide you with a broad understanding of the role, responsibilities, and duties of a referee, as well as refine your sense of right of way, timing, and application of the penalties. The Study Guide will prepare you for the written exam. The two together are designed to help prepare you for the demands of refereeing actual fencing bouts.
Attending an official Referees' Commission-sanctioned clinic is a prerequisite for becoming a certified USA Fencing referee, along with successful completion of a written exam. Once a passing score (90%) has been achieved on the written exam (both the general section and one or more weapon-specific sections) a referee receives a rating of "P" in each weapon passed. Further ratings improvements (1-10) can be obtained at a later date by being evaluated in a practical setting at tournaments.

About Bradley Baker
Bradley has earned FIE ratings as a referee in all three weapons, is a former member of the Fencing Officials Committee, and is a current member of the Rules Committee of the Referees' Commission. He is a former Secretary of USA Fencing and coached the fencing team at Temple University 2004-2013.
