SCFC will be hosting a referee clinic, taught by Derek Cotton. Mr. Cotton is one of the US's strongest referees and has officiated at many domestic and international events, including World Championship and Olympic events.

The clinic is designed to give participants a solid understanding of the rules of our sport as well as right of way rules, interpretations and how referees tend to call actions. This is a must for all fencers and parents are highly encouraged to attend as well!

This all-day clinic will include training and the written exam. It will run from 9:00am to 3:00pm. The written exam is now done online and can be scheduled by the student.

The fee for this clinic is $75, payable when you arrive at the clinic.

This is NOT a test preparation course! If you are interested in attending this course, it is strongly recommended that you read the USFA rulebook prior to coming to the clinic. The USFA rulebook may be downloaded from the USFA's website at http://www.usafencing.org.

For those looking for written training material or interested in passing the referee exam, it is strongly recommended that you read the Referee Study Guide. This guide may be downloaded from the Fencing Officials Committee (FOC) website at http://www.fencingofficials.org.
