Foil, Epee, and Saber Coaches are welcomed.
Cloth masks and proof of Covid vaccination are required.

Goals:
1) Ensure coaches are aware of the safety, ethical, and professional requirements inherent to being a fencing coach.
2) Give coaches the tools to be able to create an endless variety of group class and lesson material through the understanding of how to select skills and combine them in a variety of ways in order to suit the needs of beginner to advanced students, or a combination of both.
3) Teach coaches concepts and skills that are necessary to increase the tactical complexity and challenge of individual lessons in order to facilitate the development of higher level competitors.

The clinic will be taught by Fencing Masters Paul Sise and John Krauss. Paul was a member of the USFCA's Certification and Accreditation Board for nine years and was twice a member of the USFCA's coaching staff for Coaches Academy.
John is a former USFCA Regional Vice President and was a recipient of the USFCA's Merit Award in 2017. Together, John and Paul have taught well over a dozen clinics together.

Exams: (Optional)
This clinic includes material necessary for passing the Prevot level USFCA practical exams. It is not recommended to take the Prevot practical exam if you are relying on this clinic to learn how to pass it. Take this clinic, go back to your club and practice, and then take the exam at a later date. Attending coaches who are not certified are encouraged to inquire about the Moniteur exam.

USFCA exams at the following levels will be available:
Foil, Epee, Saber
Moniteur

Foil and Epee
Prevot

A limited number of exams will be offered. If you are interested in an exam, please email Paul Sise at paul.sise@pioneerfencing.com.

Each weapon has separate practical exams, so if you would like to be a 3 weapon Moniteur, you'll need to take one written exam but register for, pay for, and take three separate practical exams. If demand for Moniteur exams is high, priority will be given to getting each person
certified in one weapon rather than having only a couple of people take multiple exams.
