This weekend is a fun tournament to help ACFA kickoff it's summer schedule. The Friday night Senior Mixed Epee event is USFA sanctioned. The other two events are not. Check out Sunday's event. It should be fun!

Summer Fun Tournament

AC Fencing Association is hosting a Summer Fun Tournament on June 11 - 13, 2010, at the Amarillo College Fencing Salle. There will be just three events, held on Friday night at 7 pm; Saturday morning at 10 am; and Sunday morning at 9 am. They are:

Friday: SENIOR MIXED EPEE
This event is just like it says. This is for Senior aged epee fencers, born 1996 or earlier. The cost is $10 per fencer and this will be a USFA sanctioned event. Proceeds go to the ACFA Coach Travel Fund.

Saturday: YOUTH MIXED EPEE
This event is open to fencers born 1997 to 2002. The cost is $5 per fencer. In other words, all youth fencers who are NOT eligible to fence in senior level events. This will NOT be a USFA sanctioned event because of the age category overlaps. Proceeds go to the ACFA Coach Travel Fund.

Sunday: OPEN FOIL / EPEE
This event is different from anything done before. The cost is $10 per fencer. All fencers will be required to fence 1 pool round of foil and 1 pool round of epee. Both pools will be combined to seed to a direct elimination bracket. Immediately before each direct elimination bout, the bout committee chair will flip a coin. If the coin lands HEADS, the bout will be a foil bout; if the coin lands TAILS, the bout will be an epee bout. All fencers - OF ANY AGE - can fence in this event.
