The Ninth Annual Arnold Schwarzenegger Fencing Classic includes Y8, Cadet (U17), Open & Vet. All events are limited to 35 less. SUPER YOUTH fencers register separately. PAID SYC-ers will not incur additional registration fees for the Arnold events

The Ninth Annual Arnold Fencing Classic is an SYC for Y10, Y12 & Y14 events. SYCs are qualification paths for the 2012 Summer National Championships and earn national points for those events. Additionally, the Arnold has a Y8 championship, Cadet (U17), mixed open and gender separated vet events.

Registered Royal Arts Super Youth fencers pay no registration fee on Arnold Classic events! *See note under registration information.

PARKING

FESTIVAL ADMITTANCE
The Arnold Sports Festival requires a ticket to get in. All athletes are given a three-day pass into the festival. All others ( parents, family, coaches, etc ) must obtain a ticket/wristband to get in. It can be done the day of the festival or booked ahead: http://www.ticketmaster.com/promo/j4w9k7


NEW REQUIREMENT FOR YOUTH FENCERS!!!
The USFA now requires ALL fencers to show a birth certificate or other government-issued identification with a birth date before they fence in their first competition of the tournament.

USFA rules apply. Full USFA regulation uniform is required, including plastron, knickers. Y8 & Y10 require either a #0 or #2 blade. Vendors will be on site if you have equipment needs.

If your registration is being rejected for age, but you are currently listed on the National Rolling Points for the next lower age, please contact arnold@royalarts.org

Waiver of Liability
A parent signature is mandatory on both the USFA membership form and the SYC waiver/informed consent. These forms will be available at registration as well as emailed to you with the athlete packet in February.

USFA Membership
Fencers must be a current competitive USFA or FIE Member. Proof of membership is required. All fencers who begin the registration process on FRED will receive membership status information via askFRED email using most current USFA membership data. Membership information can be found at the following link: http://usfencing.org/us-fencing-membership. Single day memberships are not valid for SYC events, otherwise single day is fine.

FORMAT INFORMATION
Since this event provides national youth rolling points and is a qualifying path for summer nationals for all youth groups, no events will mix.

One round of 5-touch/3 minute bout pools. 100% advance to direct elimination rounds. For Y14, direct elimination bouts are 15 touch/9 minute bouts. For Y10-Y12, direct elimination bouts are 2 of 3 5-touch bouts.

National Points will be awarded to those placing in the top 40% of the competitive field regardless of where the cut occurs, with no rounding up, to a maximum of 32nd place, using the National points tables for Y10, Y12 or Y14 as appropriate.

EQUIPMENT
All weapons will be scored electrically. Equipment (masks, lames, and body cords/head cords) will be inspected and marked.

Names on uniforms will be required (NO EXCEPTIONS).

All Y10 events must be fenced with a size 0 or 2 blade. This rule will be enforced


This event is always full. Registration deadlines are strictly adhered to. Registration Deadline: February 12, 2011. Events fill fast. Don’t wait!

Are Fees Refundable?
The refund policy for the 2012 Arnold Fencing Classic:

  • Requests before 11/1/2011: Registration fee: 100%, Event fees: 100%

  • Requests between 11/2/2011 - 1/1/2012: Registration Fee: 50%, Event Fees: 100%

  • Requests between 1/2/2012 - 2/1/2012: Registration Fee: No Refund, Event Fees: 90%

  • Requests between 2/2/2012 - 2/20/2012: Registration Fee: No refund, Event Fees: 50%

  • Requests after 2/20/2012: No refunds.
