This tournament is a qualifying event for the 2012 Summer Nationals.

The top 10% of the competitive field (with a minimum of 4; “trickledown” is allowed) of a 2011-2012 Division II ROC will qualify for the 2012 Division II National Championships. Fencers who qualify for Division I-A or II through the ROC system and meet the classification requirements for Division III, will also qualify for Division III.

Veteran ROC’s are open to any fencer who, regardless of nationality, meets the age eligibility criteria to compete in the same season’s Veteran National Championships. Veterans may qualify for Veteran National Championships by fencing in any ROC event, be it Division I-A, Division II, or Veteran, during the current season.

Travel and Hotel Information
Denver is served by Denver International Airport. The 5th busiest airport in the U.S., it offers nonstop service to more than 160 U.S. cities, and averages more than 1700 flights daily. A major hub for United Airlines, DIA also handles flights on four low-cost carriers – Frontier, Southwest, AirTran and jetBlue.

Colorado Springs Municipal Airport offers another option. It is about 80 miles/90 minutes to the south of the Denver area.

While the Denver Metro area, like most western cities, is not a particularly walkable place, the Denver Fencing Center venue is centrally located, making at least four clusters of hotel/restaurant locations good places to stay while participating in a tournament. All of these locations offer a range of hotel options, and on-site or nearby restaurant choices.

If you wish to stay close to the airport, hotels with airport shuttle service and parking (Ramada, Days Inn, Courtyard, Fairfield, La Quinta, Holiday Inn, Quality Inn, Super 8, Springhill Suites, Staybridge) are 5-10 minutes by shuttle from the terminal, and 25 miles/35 minutes to Denver Fencing Center.

The Downtown/Convention Center/Performing Arts Center location (Hyatt Regency, Brown Palace, Magnolia, Marriott, Doubletree, Hilton Gardens, Embassy Suites) is about 25 miles/35 minutes from DIA, and 7.5miles/20 minutes from DFC. It is served by the Super Shuttle from DIA for 19 dollars per person. Flat rate cab fare to the downtown area is 54.75 dollars. RTD light rail runs from the Theater District/Convention Center stop to the Evans stop, and then DFC is about a mile walk to the west.

If you're combining the fencing tournament with a little vacation, the downtown area includes the Denver Art Museum, Coors Field, the Denver Performing Arts Center, the Tattered Cover bookstore, the US Mint and many, many choices for shopping and dining.

The Southwest area at Hampden and Wadsworth (Holiday Inn, La Quinta, Courtyard, Residence Inn, Best Western) is 6.5 miles/17 minutes from the venue, 36 miles/45 minutes from DIA. Good if you're headed further west for some snow sports after the tournament.

If you are coming in from the south, the area along I-25 between County Line Road and Arapahoe (Homewood Suites, Courtyard, Residence Inn, Sleep Inn) is 15 miles/30 minutes from Denver Fencing Center, 35 miles/40 minutes to DIA. Park Meadows Mall is here, and there is also a light rail station. Just to the west along 470 is a Courtyard and a Residence Inn.

Denver Fencing Center has easy driving availability to a number of restaurants and Starbucks. There will be sports drinks, energy bars and bananas available at the venue for minimal purchase price.
