Flagstaff in August! What could be better? We had so much fun last year that we are doing it again.
Please join us for two days of fencing and enjoy our beautiful mountain town in the pine forest. Temperatures are likely to be 25-30 degrees cooler than in Phoenix.
Venue:
Flagstaff Family YMCA
1001 N Turquoise Drive
Flagstaff, AZ 86001
The tournament will be held in the YMCA's gymnasium, a very good facility with a wood floor. The locker rooms and showers at the YMCA are available for use by all participants.
Tournament Registration Fee: $25 if preregistered, $35 if not preregistered.
Event Fees:
First event: fee included in registration fee
Each additional event: $10
Payment is accepted by cash or check only. Credit cards cannot be accepted for the registration fee.
Fencers must show proof of a USFA membership for the 2016 - 2017 season in the form of a current USFA membership card or other proof of registration from the USFA website. Membership application/renewal forms will be available at the venue. If no proof of membership is presented, and the membership cannot be otherwise verified, the fencer will be required to fill out a new registration form and submit payment (which will be refunded or cancelled as soon as membership is verified with the USFA national office). International fencers are welcome upon presentation of a copy of an FIE License or a proof of current membership in another national federation (please bring one of these items with you).
Events Scheduled and Close of Registration:
August 13:
Open Epee - 9:00 AM
Unclassified Epee – 12:30 PM
August 14:
Open Sabre - Noon
The Unclassified Epee event is intended to provide an enjoyable tournament experience for fencers who have little or no prior tournament experience.
Accordingly, participants in this event must not hold and must never have held a rating, other than U, in any weapon.
Unclassified Epee will start as soon as practicable after close of registration and after no Unclassified Epee competitors are still competing in the Open Epee event, unless otherwise determined by the organizers.
Registration and check-in will open approximately one hour before close of registration for each event. Events with fewer than six fencers preregistered may be cancelled at the organizers' discretion. The event format for all events will be one round of pools with 100% promotion to a direct elimination table.
In consideration of the fencers traveling long distances, registration will close promptly at the times listed. Please plan to be at the venue at least 30 minutes before the close of registration for your event.
Please ensure that your mask complies with the requirements for retention devices. Fencing knickers are required for all events: competitors may not fence in jeans, shorts, sweatpants, or warm-up pants.
Events may be wholly or partly self-directed by participants.
All participants must have been born in 2002 or earlier, unless on the National Junior Point Standings as provided by the current USFA Athlete Handbook.
