Alvin Leonard Adelman was born in Waco on September 20, 1920. He served as the coach and captain for Baylor's fencing club in the early years of its existence, leading teams to win the Southwest Conference Championship from 1939-1941. In 1940, he also won the individual competition for all three weapons. He served in WWII as a technical sergeant in the Army Air Force for four years, before returning to Baylor to complete his law degree. Mr. Adelman graduated Baylor Law School in 1948, after which he went on to complete his law degree at NYU. He practiced for the law firm Beard and Kultgen until his retirement in 1999. Mr. Adelman was a student of Jewish history, philosophy and archeology. His greatest joy was his many trips to Israel to visit his ancestral homeland. On Wednesday June 5, 2002, at age 81, Mr. Adelman died in a nursing home after a long illness. This tournament was set up to honor his legacy.
Adelman Memorial Tournament will be held at Russell Gym on Baylor University campus.
Payment will be taken in the form of cash or check made out to Baylor University Fencing Club at the door due to university policy. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.
Registration fee is $35 for one event plus $10 for each additional event. USFA membership is required.
Pre-registration begins 08/24/2018 and ends 09/20/2018. Pre-registration fee is $25 for one event plus $10 for each additional event.

USFA MEMBERSHIP and a signed WAIVER OF PARTICIPATION are required.
USFA MEMBERSHIP CARD MUST BE PRINTED AND SHOWN AT THE DOOR TO PARTICIPATE IN EVENTS.
All participants must be competitive members of the USFA of FIE. YOU MUST BRING PHYSICAL PROOF OF YOUR USFA MEMBERSHIP TO THE VENUE (membership card or receipt).
Fencers under 18 years old need the signature of a parent or guardian (not a coach) on BOTH the membership and waiver forms.
Waiver of Liability must be filled out and signed. Fencers under 18 must have a parent signature on the waiver in order to be able to fence. The waiver should be attached as a PDF file to your registration confirmation email from askfred or brought as a physical copy to the venue.
