This competition is specially designed to help young fencers - and their parents - to better understand official tournaments. Event will be combined and run as a 'handicap' tournament.
SPECIAL REGULATIONS UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE:
This event will be held OUTDOORS.
Only pre-registered fencers are permitted to participate. Payment possible through ASKFRED or at the venue.
Only New Jersey Division affiliated fencers are permitted to enter.
Atlantic Fencing Academy will be following its comprehensive COVID PRECAUTIONS including contactless check-in, wearing masks, washing, sanitizing hands, social distancing. Fencers does not require to wear a face covering under the fencing mask while fencing.
Schedule:
All times are close of registration. All fencers must sign in by scanning their USA Fencing membership card. Check in opens one hour before times listed.
All Ages (Y8, Y10, Y12, Y14) Saber ---- 11:00 AM
It is highly recommended to arrive at least 45 mins before check-in closes to sign-in, warm-up and prepare for fencing.
Fees:
-Registration fee: $15
-Event fee:
----------$30 IF preregistered AND paid by Wednesday, 10/3/2020
----------$40 IF paid at the door [cash, check; credit cards $45]
Refund requests must be received at least 2 days prior to the event. At the event, if a fencer decides to withdraw prior to the commencement of the tournament due to COVID19 safety concerns, will receive full refund.
In case of expected inclement weather, participants will be notified by email the evening before the event and changes will be posted on Atlantic’s website.
We retain the right to cancel an event, if there are no minimum of 6 participants per age group.
Tournament Rules:
USA Fencing rules apply.
Full USFA regulation uniform and equipment are required for ALL participants, including 800 NW saber glove. You can rent some sanitized equipment from the club - please notify in advance. Cost $20. Y8 and Y10 fencers can fence only with #0 or #2 blades.
Tournament Format:
All age groups will be combined into one event: Y8, Y10, Y12 and Y14: One round of pools with 100% promotion to Direct Elimination rounds.
No fence-off for third place. Each fencer will be given a handicap for the first round. The second round will not have a handicap.
Top eight fencers receive medal.

The state-of-the-art facility of the Atlantic Fencing Academy is only couple of minutes away from GSP Exit 109. Indoor, we have eleven grounded strips. For outdoor tournaments we have ample space for social distancing, seating for competitors and parents. Indoor restrooms, hand sanitizers and vending machine with water and Gatorades are available. Bring a big towel, if you need to stretch on the ground or want to put down your equipment on it.
