Junior Olympic Qualifiers! Participants may enter to qualify to attend the USA Fencing JO National Championship in Philadelphia, PA, July 3-12, 2021. First event is $20 + $15 each additional event if pre-registered. NEW INFO AVAILABLE
FINAL TOURNAMENT UPDATE:
At this time, Junior (U20) and Cadet (U17) men's foil have been assigned start times for June 6th at CBA. Close of registration for U20 Men's Foil is 10:00AM, and for U17 Men's Foil is 12:30PM.
TOURNAMENT UPDATE: Cadet Men's Foil and Junior Men's Foil are the only two contested events and have been rescheduled to June 6th (same day and location as the Minnesota Div II/III Qualifiers). They will be distributed over the day among the other events and exact start times will be determined closer to the close of registration for Div II/III qualifiers (May 31st).
Pre-registration for JO Qualifiers will remain closed in the mean time and no additional participants will be permitted to register. Final results along with auto-qualifying events will be submitted at the conclusion of qualifiers on June 6th.

Registration: Closes the Monday before at Midnight (May 10th). THERE ARE NO WALK-ONS. If you attempt to register for an event in person without being pre-registered, you will not be allowed to participate.
Cost per event is $20 if pre-registered + $15 each additional event if pre-registered. If you autoqualify for a second event there is no additional charge. The MN Division accepts checks, cash, or credit/debit cards. This is a USA Fencing-sanctioned tournament and competitive memberships are required - high school members must upgrade to a full competitive membership. All USA Fencing equipment rules will be enforced.
For the 2020/21 season Cadet includes birth years 2004-2007, and Junior includes 2001-2007.
If an event has 3 or fewer fencers by the close of pre-registration, all fencers automatically qualify for JOs. If there are 4-12 fencers, the top 3 qualify - in this case, we will fence off for third. If there are 13-16 fencers, the top 4 qualify. If there are 17-20 fencers, the top 5 qualify, and so on.
IMPORTANT: If an event has 3 or fewer fencers, participants will be auto-qualified and the event will NOT be fenced. We ask that if you are already qualified via another pathway or from qualifiers last year (2019/2020 season), please DO NOT participate. This is to reduce the number of individuals in the space and promote safety for both fencers and staff.
If an event is canceled due to lack of registrants, we will let you know shortly after the close of pre-registration. PLEASE NOTE: by the time of close of pre-registration, if there are only 1-3 events being contested and participant numbers are low, those events may be moved to the Division II/III Summer National Qualifiers taking place on June 6th. We will monitor the events closely and make a decision shortly after close of pre-registration if necessary.
COVID-19 SAFETY MEASURES: per USA Fencing and local guidelines, all fencers, family, coaches, and staff are required to wear a mask at all times. Face coverings must be two-layer cloth masks or surgical face coverings. Single-layer gaiters, bandannas, masks with vents and inserts that clip into the fencing mask and do not fully contact the athlete's face are not permitted. Masks may be briefly lowered for eating and drinking, but please distance yourself from other individuals before doing so.
Hand sanitizer and wipes will be available, and a limited supply of extra masks in the event a mask breaks or becomes too wet. Please make sure to bring at least two of your own!
Yelling and handshakes are prohibited. Failure to wear a mask and frequent yelling in competition will result in penalties. Full details can be found here: https://www.usafencing.org/news_article/show/1130356
We request that fencers bring no more than one guardian or parent per fencer. If capacity is reached, we will ask any additional family members to leave.
If you develop possible symptoms of Covid-19 or receive a positive Covid-19 test result leading up to the competition, please remove your registration and/or inform us of your withdrawal. If you have symptoms develop or a positive Covid-19 test after the competition, please inform us immediately so that we can take appropriate action and alert other participants and staff of the potential exposure.
