The Tampa Bay Fencer would like to the Tampa Bay Melee!
This tournament is a unsanctioned dry tournament. Electric weapons are allowed but you will not need a cord for them. Entry is $30 for one or all events.
Events Scheduled:
Mixed Dry One Touch Epee, Mixed Dagger and Epee, Mixed Dry Foil
Preregistration opens on 04/25/2023.
Preregistration closes on 07/29/2023.

You must be a USFA member, their cheapest membership for fencing competitions are $25.

Since our events are not sanctioned by a governing body, we do things a bit differently at our tournaments.
First in our foil event, we go to 3 points in our pool bouts and then 5 points in our direct elimination bouts.

Second, in our epee bouts, we only go to one touch in both pools and direct elimination rounds. However, we will either be doing the standard pool with a single elimination bracket or we will be using the final results from the foil tournament and make a seeding out of that, though instead of a single elimination bracket for this incident, it would then become a double elimination event.

Third, in our dagger and epee bouts, the same applies for this event as well. We will either have a standard pool of to 3 points followed by a direct single elimination bracket or take the final results from either epee or foil and use that to make a double elimination bracket with.
There are a few other rules regarding the dagger and epee tournament:
-epee must be the primary weapon but your off-hand weapon can be either a dagger, cloak, hat, or buckler (small shield). If there is an off-hand item that you would like to use that was not listed, please contact me at alexk@tampabayfencers.com
-You do not have to use an off hand weapon and you may parry with your off-hand, however, you cannot grab your opponents blade and if you chose to not have an off-hand weapon, your opponent can chose whether they can use one or two weapons.
-If you do not have a dagger or other off-hand weapon, one will be lent to you at the start of your bouts.

Another rule in the tournament is that time does NOT stop after a touch is scored, which means you shouldn't be arguing with the referee.

Hopefully you can come out and attend the tournament, we look forward to seeing you there!
