Georgia Games fencing is an all ages all weapons event open to fencers from GA, SC, TN, AL, NC, LA. Great fencing. Vendor (fencing.net on site. We're finalizing the new event times.

Come and fence in the first event of the 2009-2010 fencing season. Did you learn a few things at Nationals or didn't go and now you need to shake off some of the cobwebs? Join us at the Georgia Games Fencing Tournament.

Equipment Vendor On-Site: http://www.fencing.net/">Fencing.Net will be at the Georgia Games. We will also demonstrate the wireless epee scoring system.

Who Can Compete: All residents of Georgia, South Carolina, Tennessee, Alabama, Louisiana, and, North Carolina are invited to participate. Georgia residents attending school or serving in the military in other states are also eligible.

There will be Mixed Team events in all weapons – but space is limited- sign up your team early!

Tournament Structure:

One round of pools with 100% promotion to direct elimination table

  • Events with less than five (5) entrants will not be held and the following accommodations will be made:

    • In women's events, if less than five (5) people register for foil, epee or sabre, the fencers will be allowed to compete in the men's events and their relative scores will determine their placement.

    • In age group events, if less than five (5) people register for a particular event; they will be scheduled in the next age group competition in that weapon category.


Youth Events: Competitors may register for only one age/weapon for the Y10, Y12 and Y14 events.
The USFA age chart applies; Y10=1999-2002, Y12=1997-2000, Y14=1995-1998, U17=1993-1996, U20=1990-1996

Team Events: Teams will be composed of three fencers and may have one alternate. Teams may be mixed (male and female) and must represent a USFA member club. Clubs may field multiple teams in each event. TEAM SPACE IS LIMITED – Register early

Team Rules: The competition will be in the current FIE/USFA "Relay Format" and will comply with the rules set forth by the FIE and USFA.

USFA membership is required to participate. Participants may join the USFA at the tournament.

High School Team Epee: Special team epee tournament hosted in double-elimination dual meet format. Teams may be mixed in gender and must be composed of members of the same high school. School ID's are required at check in. Teams are comprised of 3 fencers and one alternate. TEAM SPACE IS LIMITED.

Equipment Requirements:
All equipment must comply with current USFA rules.

Standard safety equipment (underarm plastron, female breast protectors, knee length socks, etc) will be required. Competition uniform is required. No sweat pants will be allowed.

Athletes must have two (2) working weapons and two (2) working body chords for competition.

Prior to the start of competition, athlete's personal equipment must be inspected at Equipment Control. Items to be inspected: masks, metallic vests, body chords, mask chords and sabre cuffs. Sabre blades must be S2000 compliant. Weapons will be tested on strip for weight, blade curvature and, in epee, travel and residual.
