This RYC serves as a qualifying event for 2009 Summer National Championships for Y10 and Y12 events. Entry deadline for Summer National Championships is May 22nd.

*If 6 or more competitors are registered in each youth event they will be fenced separately, otherwise events will be combined and awards given to top placing fencers in each category.

WAIVER OF LIABILITY:
A parent signature is mandatory on both the USFA membership and the RYC release of liability consent.
USFA MEMBERSHIP:
Fencers must be a current competitive USFA Member. Proof of membership is required. Membership forms are available here: http://www.usfencing.org/assets/documents/attached_file/filename/130/2008-2009_Membership_Application.pdf .Completed USFA membership forms will be accepted at the door. If you do not have proof of membership, you will be required to complete and pay for a membership. Payment for memberships is made directly to the USFA ** NO CASH ** bring separate check for membership. Fencers under 18 years old are reminded they need the signature of a parent or guardian (not a coach) on BOTH the membership and waiver forms.
FORMAT INFORMATION
One round of 5 touch/ 3 minute bout pools. 100% advance to direct elimination rounds. For Y14, direct elimination bouts are 15 touch/ 9 minute bouts. For Y10-Y12, direct elimination bouts are 2 of 3 bouts; 5 touches.
INFORMATION ON AWARDS
The top three boys and girls in each event will received a medal. There will not be a fence off for the bronze medal. Additionally, the top three point holders in each event for girls and boys will receive awards and recognition. To receive an award fencer must have attended to at least three out of five RYC tournaments in the region. This is designed to reward consistent participation as well as performance. The accumulation of point standings will be based on five out of five point scores earned during the 2008-2009 season.
EQUIPMENT
Equipment (masks, lames, and electric cords) will be inspected and marked.
The Fencing Post will be at the venue with a full line of equipment and will provide a full range of repair services.
AIRPORT
El Paso International Airport (ELP) is approximately 17 min. (8.0 miles) from the venue.
